I AM GRATEFUL

February 15, 2016

Time is very essential to do all the stuff we need to accomplish every day. We budget our time for things that needs to be done. As a Stay At Home Mom, it is one of my big responsibility to do the cooking and most of the house chores. Facing every new day without a helper is challenging and doing the same daily routine is quite boring too. Getting up from bed early in the morning to prepare for breakfast (but it happened many times that my boys woke up ahead me) washing the dishes after, Ironing clothes and uniforms during the weekend, doing groceries and cleaning the house, etc. Huh! it's draining sometimes. But, I am grateful for having my family.

Day-to-day cooking is sometimes making me feel bored, there are times when I can't think of what to cook. I am not hesitant to admit it, and when it happens I just order take-out food from a restaurant nearby. They say it is advisable to cook your food besides from saving a few bucks you are basically sure it is safe and clean. For me, there is nothing wrong to eat outside as long as you know that the establishment is clean and they prepare the food safely. There are restaurants serving good food, healthy food that satisfies individual cravings that are less expensive, and, I am grateful for this.

Why DO we eat? Obviously, we eat for health reasons. We eat in order to live and our body needs good and healthy food every day. There are plenty of reasons why we should eat. Today, in our modern world people seldom cook their food but instead run to the comforts of fast foods and restaurants serving quickly prepared food or ready made. Some feed their bodies when they feel there is a need or most especially when hunger strikes. Because some people are very busy with their respective jobs and how to earn a living, to augment their income in order to support their family, this is usually what happens.

I am so lucky to have more time and do the cooking for my family. Though I personally admit there are times when I easily get tired and lazy to cook, but the thought of believing that it's just normal helps me get through it. My interest in cooking started when I was in college and as a neophyte, in the kitchen, the eagerness to learn was there. I learned the basics from my mother like frying, grilling and the very easy Filipino ulam law-uy, etc. Cooking is fun but you have to be patient sometimes. As years passed, I learned to cook other Filipino dishes like the "pinakbet" and "Paksiw", these have become my all time favorite along with chicken or pork adobo. Then making salads and few desserts followed. I am so grateful!

If we want to accomplish something "Time" and "patience" therefore is very essential, we just have to budget our time for all the things that needs to be done accordingly. Cooking needs time and I am so grateful to do the cooking for my family. So grateful for my mother for teaching me how to cook. Being a SAHM or Stay At Home Mom is a choice and I am so grateful for being such. SAHM doesn't mean I have to evolve my life in the house attending all domestic needs, but, I can choose where and how to spend my time without sacrificing my responsibility as a married woman, and a mother to my children! I can still do my dance exercise if I have to.

For all of these, I AM GRATEFUL!
